Xert Forecast AI (XFAI) is a flexible, outcome-driven training plan generator that builds the most efficient path from your current fitness to your target goal, event, or race. It plans using daily strain targets—not rigid workouts—so you can train your way (indoors, outdoors, group rides, races) while still following a structured progression.
Definition
Xert Forecast AI (XFAI) is Xert’s AI-powered training planner that builds an outcome-driven plan around your current fitness, available training time, and a goal (a GOAL, EVENT, or RACE program).
Unlike traditional training plans that schedule specific workouts on specific days, Forecast AI schedules daily strain targets (Low, High, and Peak XSS). You can hit those targets however you choose — structured workouts, outdoor rides, group rides, or races — and the plan automatically adapts as your training and availability change.
This gives you the structure you need to improve with the flexibility to train how you want!
What It Represents
Forecast AI answers a different question than XATA's daily recommendations:
“What training will I need over the coming days and weeks to reach my goal?”
It builds a forward-looking plan by forecasting how your fitness and readiness are likely to change over time, then mapping the training needed to guide you toward your target outcome.
How Forecast AI Works
At a high level, Forecast AI:
- Sets a training path toward your Goal / Event / Race
- Plans appropriate daily training based on your Training Status (Readiness) and your available time
- Assigns daily Low / High / Peak strain targets (XSS)
- Updates the plan upon request via the Adapt Forecast feature
Forecast AI starts with where you are right now — your current Fitness Signature and Training Loads — and combines that with how much time you have until your Goal/Event. It then uses your training history (including Breakthroughs and your Training Responsiveness) to estimate the mix of Low, High, and Peak training needed to reach the fitness and readiness required on the target date.
Unlike cookie-cutter plans that prescribe the same workouts regardless of your current fitness or training load, Forecast AI builds a plan that is personalized to you and remains relevant as your fitness changes.
Key takeaway: Forecast AI doesn’t lock you into specific workouts — it schedules strain targets, so you can stay on plan using structured workouts, outdoor rides, group rides, or races.

Common Misunderstandings
- Forecast AI doesn't set specific weekly "High-Intensity" days — High intensity is scheduled when your training status indicates you're fresh enough to handle it.
- Forecast AI doesn’t require perfect compliance. It adapts when your training or availability changes.
- You don’t “swap” days like a static plan. Forecast AI schedules targets based on readiness and long-term flow; changing days can affect the rest of the plan.
- Your plan may update after new training data. That’s expected—Forecast AI is designed to be dynamic.
