Freshness Feedback lets you easily tell Xert how you feel today—so XATA can adjust today’s recommended training and strain targets to match your real-world readiness. It’s a temporary, same-day override that resets automatically each day.

Definition
Freshness Feedback lets you quickly tell Xert how you feel today—so XATA can adjust your training recommendations accordingly.
It’s designed to account for readiness factors Xert can’t always see in your activity data, such as sleep, stress, illness, travel, HRV, etc.
What It Means
Xert calculates your Training Status from your training data each day, but you can override today’s readiness using four simple options:
- Very Fresh
- Fresh
- Tired
- Very Tired
When you select one, Xert immediately updates your recommended training (and daily strain targets) to better match your current readiness.
Freshness Feedback helps you stay consistent while aligning the recommended training with your perceived or measured readiness.
How It Works
Freshness Feedback is a temporary adjustment for today’s training only.
- Your selection resets automatically after a new activity is processed or at midnight.
- It affects today’s XATA recommendations (what to do today and how hard).
- It does not permanently change your underlying recovery model.
Related: To adjust your longer-term recovery pattern, use Recovery Demands instead.
Why Freshness Feedback isn’t used in Forecast AI (XFAI)
Forecast AI generates a forward-looking training plan, so changing your freshness would require re-optimizing the planned training (and potentially the rest of the plan). That’s why Freshness Feedback is only used with XATA.
If you’re following a Forecast AI plan and you feel less ready than expected, choose an easier session for the day and then run Adapt Forecast so your plan updates based on what you actually did.
Where You’ll See It
You will find Freshness Feedback on the Today page, in the Remaining Recovery widget.
Common Misunderstandings
- Freshness Feedback is only available for XATA programs. Forecast AI (XFAI) plans do not use it.
- It’s meant for short-term adjustments, not long-term changes. Use Recovery Demands for that.
- It resets automatically, so it won’t accidentally stay on “Very Fresh” for days.
